About this data
Methodology
Built on the same methodology and data inputs as EPA’s eGRID dataset, OGE is the next generation of U.S. grid and emissions data, built for the needs of today’s analysts, researchers, and carbon accountants. Full technical documentation is available here.
Coverage
Annual and monthly data from 2005 through 2025, with hourly data available from 2019 onward. The data includes all greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (CO₂, CH₄, N₂O, and CO₂-eq) and several criteria pollutants (NOₓ, SO₂). Regions are currently aggregated at the balancing authority level.

2025 early release data: published August 2026

Early Release data
The most recent year of "Early Release" datasets is based on preliminary EIA data for that year, which isn't yet appropriate for regional aggregation. Only individual generator-level data is published for that year until final data is available.
Finding the right data
Consumption-based Emissions Factors
Useful for Scope 2, location-based accounting. Reflects the emissions intensity of electricity delivered to serve load, including imports.
Generation-based Emissions Factors
Useful to understand Scope 1 (direct) emissions from regional power generation. Reflects the fuel mix and emissions intensity of generated electricity.
Individual generator data
Reflects operational characteristics (generation, fuel consumption, etc.) and emissions from individual generators (subplants) and power plants.
Data quality metrics
Metadata about the data inputs, methodologies, and known issues with the above data.
